Course Description:
We are surrounded by numbers. Algebra 1 helps will help students notice and make sense of those numbers as they explore the orders and patterns found in God’s Creation. This course is the foundation containing the basic knowledge needed for all future high school math courses. The material covered in this course is important, but everyone can do it. Everyone can have a good time solving the hundreds of real-world problems algebra can help answer and learning how to apply this tool toward the stewardship of the marvelous gifts of our generous Creator. Each module in this course is presented in a step-by-step way right on the computer screen. Hands-on labs make the numbers, graphs, and equations more real. The content in this course is tied to real-world applications like sports, travel, business, and health. This course is designed to give students the skills and strategies to solve all kinds of mathematical problems. Students will also acquire the confidence needed to handle everything high school math has in store for them.

Recommended Prerequisites:
Successful completion of 7th grade mathematics with a grade of C or better.

  • 1 Credit – Full course (12 weeks minimum / 12 months maximum)
  • ½ Credit – 1st semester only (6 weeks minimum / 6 months maximum)
  • ½ Credit – 2nd semester only (6 weeks minimum / 6 months maximum)
  • Honors track available

Biblical Integration Information:
God has chosen to reveal truths about His nature and ways in the Created world. The complex patterns, designs, and relationships discovered in the study of mathematics points to God’s nature and ways. As we explore, discover, verify, and catalogue the known truths of His universe, dive into the unknown, make decisions, identify, assess, and solve problems around us, and seek to understand more about the universe God has made and the role of humans in it, God is glorified. The study of mathematics leads us into a deeper understanding of our Creator and appreciation for His provision and wisdom as we use this knowledge as a tool to have dominion over and care for the natural world.
