Science Grade 2

Elementary Science Grade 2 continues to build a solid foundation in the sciences through the study of a variety of topics, such as the properties of objects, rocks and soil, energy, force and speed, and the human body. Early in the course, students explore God’s deep knowledge of us and the unmatched creativity and abundance of His creation and continue to relate what they are learning to various biblical concepts and principles. As students explore this amazing world, from the weather to the life cycle, they also learn about the miraculous works God produces to protect and provide for His children. Students engage in science and engineering practices by asking questions, defining problems, developing and using models, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematics and informational technology, constructing explanations, designing solutions, engaging in scientific arguments using evidence, and communicating results. A framework of active learning supports and allows students to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate throughout the course. This dynamic format also helps students build a biblically accurate understanding of God’s earth, through hands-on experiences and discovery of new ideas.
